Director of Programs Shelli Lewis Selected As Souther Colorado Remarkable Woman

Angels Director of Programs, Shelli Lewis, was selected as the Nexstar Media Group, Inc.’s 2026 Remarkable Woman in Southern Colorado. Colorado Springs Fox 21 channel covered the story HERE.

With her experience as a military spouse and her passion for helping others, Lewis was nominated in part for “…comforting friends who lost their spouses (some who were pregnant when their spouse was killed), and utilized this all to create an organization that supports surviving spouses and their children nationwide.”

Lewis is credited with creating a “culture of support” at Angels, which includes trauma-informed case management, referrals to outside agencies, peer support, an empowering speaking program called Voices, and engagement of at-risk youth in healthy activities year-round.

“She has been running a sprint pace for 13 years with little time off because it’s a passion for her,” the nomination read. “She makes herself available not just during working hours, but nights, weekends, and holidays.”
