Meet Winston! Angel Emma’s New Service Dog
Meet Winston, a Canyon Sheepadoodle! Thanks to Victory Service Dogs, Angel Emma now has a new addition to her family.
“This is everything,” Emma said. “I am so overwhelmed and I am really excited. It has been a hard time, but I feel like there is hope.”
When Emma was just 18 months old, her father succumbed to his PTS and committed suicide, but not before also killing Emma’s mother. Now 16, Emma recently lost both grandparents, just weeks apart from one another.
Struggling with her grief, Victory Service Dogs donated Winston that will train with Emma on this new part of her grief journey.
Victory Service Dogs provides service dogs and the training to our veterans, first responders and children who are in need.”
“We had this awazing opportunity through one of our awesome volunteers, Chip,” said Joe Lewis, CEO of Angels of America’s Fallen.” He introduced us to Steve (with Victory Service Dogs) and we talked about Emma. They made it happen really quick.”
The Colorado Springs community came together to support Emma on her journey.
“This is what community does,” Lewis said. “This is what our nation should be doing – paying it forward to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for others. It is fantastic to see it all come together.”
